Fayetteville, AR

It’s official – the initiative has begun to establish Fayetteville, AR as an WHO Age Friendly City. This movement is a collaboration between the City of Fayetteville, the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce and the University of Arkansas.   The purpose of the initiative is to use the World Health Organization Age-Friendly Cities model as a strategy to establish Fayetteville, AR as an age-friendly city.  So…what is Age Friendly? According to the World Health Organization, Age Friendly is …an inclusive and accessible urban environment that promotes active aging” [by targeting] “environmental, social and economic factors that influence the health and wellbeing of older adults” [in the community].

The Age Friendly Fayetteville team has been hard at work for a few months now.  The attached update highlights what we have done so far and outlines our goals for 2013!
